Overview:
Making Teams organised a half day Amazing Chase Bangkok outdoor team building program on the 26th July 2017 for 60 delegates from Exxon Mobil Asia Pacific who visited Bangkok for their business conference.
Location:
The location for the event was the bustling city of Bangkok. Starting from the clients hotel Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, teams received a briefing as a set route to follow along with maps and a travel budget and were instructed to head to their first location.
Company / People
Exxon Mobil is one the worlds most well known energy and petroleum producers. Based throughout the Asia Pacific region, the company brought their delegates to Bangkok for their company meeting .We were asked to propose an amazing chase around the city with a mix of cultural and activity challenges based on utilizing the public transport system.
Event Objectives
The objectives for this event were to provide delegates with a competitive team building event whilst affording time to relax and enjoy the local culture and lifestyle of Bangkok. Teams took part in a variety of cultural and activity challenges. For each activity, they required leadership, strategy, communication, planning and interpretation to complete the activity and move on in the event.
The objectives for this event were as follows:
Work together as a team to complete each of the event challenges
Improve communication and team work amongst the group
Get to know each other in a more informal environment.
Have a fun and enjoyable time whilst experiencing the local culture and life of Bangkok
Event Program:
Each team traveled a set routing in different directions using the BTS Sky train network through the heart of Bangkok and the MRT Metro system. They would all compete over the same challenges and the winning team was decided based on aggregate time, points for challenge completion from with time bonuses for the cheapest shopping and the fastest team. the team that completed all of the challenges in the fastest time won this event.
Teams competed over the following 4 team challenges at 4 different locations:
Pay Homage to the wise – Cryptic questions to search around Erawan shrine and make a team offering to the gods
Spice up your life – Learn and recreate Thailand’s most well known spicy dish Papaya Salad, Som-tam as the locals call it. Tasting was optional!
Flower Power– Teams were shown how to make a traditional Thai flower graland and then they had to thread the orchids together that would make a garland long enough to hang around the necks of their team before making an offering and donation at Wat Yannawa temple

Event Schedule:
14:30 – event briefing by the lead facilitator, allocation of teams and event materials
14.45 – Teams received their instructions and left the hotel on the Amazing Chase Bangkok
17.00 – Teams received the instruction where ever you ate in the race, head for the hotel. Be back in the meeting room before 5.30pm to receive a points bonus, after 5.30pm receive a time penalty.
17.30 – Teams aim to be back at the hotel
17.45 – Event de-brief and award the winning team prize
