Looking to energise your Bangkok team event with a truly collaborative, creative and high-impact experience? Our Chain Reaction – Bangkok Edition invites teams to design and build working machines using everyday items – all while fostering communication, problem-solving, and innovation.
Ideal for Bangkok venues such as hotels, conference rooms, or office spaces, this indoor team-building activity brings groups together in a highly visual and rewarding way.
- Use teamwork to brainstorm and implement a shared plan
- Improve creative and critical thinking, as well as team communication
- Foster collaboration under pressure and limited resources
- Encourage problem-solving in unpredictable conditions
- Build functional prototypes with limited time and tools
- Deliver an engaging, hands-on team building experience in Bangkok
Your team will be challenged to construct a functioning chain reaction machine capable of completing a simple task — switching on a light, popping a balloon, ringing a bell — using only household or office items like string, paperclips, balls, tubes, tape, cups, and more.
Working in teams and under time pressure, participants must:
- Plan and Design – Strategize their machine blueprint using provided materials.
- Construct and Test – Work hands-on to bring their plan to life, testing and improving it on the fly.
- Demonstrate and Present – Showcase their final chain reaction in front of judges, aiming for creativity, complexity, and seamless performance.
This creative engineering challenge is especially suited to indoor venues in Bangkok — hotel ballrooms, conference centers, or company offices — and requires no special tools or technical background. It’s fun, constructive, and always memorable.
The location for the event is usually at the client’s hotel or own office space.
The winning team is the team that creates the most imaginative chain reaction, as judged by a joint panel of Making Teams staff and company judges.
There are no safety concerns.
The delegates are assigned teams, the activity is explained, and a series of example videos are shown to demonstrate and provide ideas. Once the teams have finished, they will demonstrate their chain reaction and a panel of judges will decide the winning team.
The ideal length for this activity is a minimum of two hours of brainstorming, designing, and testing followed by a final demonstration to a panel of judges. This program can be adapted to a half day, full day or multi-day team building activity depending on your budget and expressed level of ambition you’d like to see in the chain reactions.
